CAROLYN SHIEL



With over ten years of experience driving complex real estate transactions, Carolyn is an expert at keeping deals on track, organized and efficient. With a background that spans multiple perspectives of the development process, she is able to bring a well-rounded and sophisticated viewpoint to every project.

​

Carolyn graduated from the University at Buffalo School of Law in 2009 with a concentration in housing finance and development. She began her career in New York State as an attorney working on projects utilizing the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program, as well as an array of additional subsidized and unsubsidized financing. Most recently, she transitioned from the legal side to working as a project manager for a not-for-profit developer based in Western Massachusetts.


During her career, she has had the opportunity to guide the closing process for a range of new construction and preservation deals, collectively totaling over $200 million. She has also contributed to a variety of successful funding applications for projects in New York State and Massachusetts.

In addition to her knowledge of the LIHTC program, Carolyn also has experience working on projects that have utilized the New Market Tax Credit program, federal and state historic tax credits, and developments that have relied upon Massachusetts Chapter 40B.

​

Carolyn resides in Burlington, Vermont. Her service area extends throughout the Northeast and beyond.
